Joyce Marie Sheldon ... Author, Inspirational Speaker, Caregiver Advocate

Mia and Mr. Red Feather
a tender story of friendship, trust and hope
and the power of believing

This incredibly sweet and simple story,
which is narrated by Mia herself,
is complimented with pages of warm and vibrant color,
beautiful pictures and interesting patterns.
They all  merge together
to create a unique work of art.

Excerpt ~

Mr. Red Feather taught me
about a lot of things.
He taught me all about Indian customs,
like the rain dance we were practicing
for a special occasion when
we might need rain.
He even taught me
how to paddle a canoe.

Here's a photo of Mia

Mia and Mr. Red Feather are the best of friends.

When Mr. Red Feather suffers a heart attack
and is dying,
 Mia is devastated.

His tender messages of trust and hope,
along with acceptance,
are gifts to little Mia.
He shares with her his belief
that she will see him again
in the plants that grow in their garden.
He tells her that the eagle
will be a sign that he is happy.

Endorsements from Teachers

"... a magnificent love story!

My own father, who died in 2001,
 loved this story.
He would be happy to know
the author is finally sharing the sentiments
of trust and hope with the world!"

- Denise M. Hazlett, Educator

"The author has read this story to my First Grade class -

you could have heard a pin drop!
Often children are left out when death visits a family.
Her story puts Mia right on center stage
and Mr. Red Feather guides her
with love and understanding."

"My students had many stories of their own to tell,
from a turtle which died to their grandpa who was sick.
We talked about it for weeks!
What a blessing to provide this simple story
of trust, hope and acceptance -
for adults as well as children."

- Renee Gidcumb, Educator
